Miscellaneous

All other sailing boats are able to race under handicap in the Miscellaneous class. We have a variety of boats such as Lasers, RS200s, RS400s and Drascombes to name but a few.

The miscellaneous fleet provides handicap racing for boats other than the one-design classes.

The most popular classes within the fleet ebb and flow, with the resurgence of the Classic classes in recent years taking their toll on the fleet.

At the high performance end, the late 80s and early 90s saw a particularly strong catamaran presence, with Dart 18s being followed by Prindles and Hobies. Following that, several 5o5’s, an Iso and an International 14 kept us entertained, followed by Laser 4000s. Today sees fewer of the high performance dinghies, with just occasional appearaces from an RS800, Contender and RS600 enjoying the fantastic open water and waves the Bay has to offer.

Amongst the slower doublehanders, GP14s have been gradually replaced by RS200s, with Larks a new addition this year.
Of course Lasers remain a constant presence, with always some on the start-line, and making up the majoity of the fleet some years.

Outside of racing, we have a very long established and active Drascombe fleet, waging constant war on the local lobster population, amongst other activities!
