Junior Miscellaneous

At TBSC Toppers are regarded as a competitive and fun-filled class. The Topper is a true One Design, single-handed dinghy. Uniform hulls, specification of fittings and equipment mean that a Topper can race competitively with any other reasonably maintained Topper. The current suggested weight guideline is between 47kg and 63kg and consequently they are mainly sailed by teenagers. Toppers are one of the strongest growing fleets at TBSC and are a natural progression following on from Optimists. Also, Toppers are a full ISAF International Class, and part of the RYA Junior Pathway programme which ensures a competitive racing scene across Great Britain and beyond.

The Topper is an 11 foot sailing dinghy designed by Ian Proctor. The Topper is a one-design boat sailed mostly around Ireland and the United Kingdom. It was recognised as an International class by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). The boat is constructed from polypropylene, and is popular as a racing boat or for sail training.
