Trearddur Bay offers sea sailing at its best. Our sheltered coves offer moorings for the bigger boats and calm launching for the dinghies. Out at sea, the prevailing winds blow straight from Ireland giving clean winds, and great waves for the more experienced crews to enjoy when the wind is up.
For the racing sailor, a range of ’round the cans’ courses ranging from sheltered water inside the bay for the Optimists to more challenging tidal conditions further out for the bigger boats offer great racing for all, while the ‘offshore’ races to Holyhead and Rhoscolyn are for many the highlights of the season.
Outside of racing, the varied coastline makes it a great place for a day sail, with many secluded beaches in range for a lazy picnic.
To ensure the next generation (and older newcomers!) enjoy the water, we have a very active training programme, with our sail training week that includes a variety of training options from single handed Optimists to double handed RS200s. Once the bug has bitten, our ‘Novice’ race series helps introduce new sailors to the fun and challenges of racing.
